Some people really didn't care for this year's Super Bowl halftime show.
While Super Bowl 60 drew the second largest audience in history, many people took issue with Bad Bunny's performance during the halftime show. Several of those were from Central Mass.
The F.C.C. recently released the more than 2,000 complaints tied to the February 8th broadcast on NBC. Massachusetts accounted for 32 complaints, including 4 from Central Mass., 1 from Worcester. For comparison, Texas led the nation with 266 complaints, according to an article from Fox 4 News.
Here are the 4 complaints to the F.C.C. from Central Massachusetts.
A Worcester resident wrote the following complaint to the F.C.C.:
"The super bowl halftime show on 2/8/26 on NBC was disturbing to watch and listen to with my children. The artist known as "Bad Bunny" made numerous amounts of gestures to his crotch and genitalia, his words were of an extremely explicit and sexual nature that is not appropriate for kids or even adults to have to hear without warning. This was a disgrace and just because it is in Spanish does not excuse it. I am conversational in Spanish and it made me sick to hear. This is an absolute betrayal of your duties."
A South Grafton resident also filed a complaint, writing:
"I was very upset that the NFL and NBC Universal televised a halftime show that had pornographic words and videos not suitable for children. The NFL shows have been getting more and more offensive and its time that the FCC intervenes. My grandchildren were watching this show and I actually had to turn it off due to concerns for their safety and well-being. There should have been a warning, prior to the showing, that the content may not be suitable for children. To say that because it was in Spanish it couldn't harm children is inaccurate. Many children speak Spanish and are looking to the NFL as role models which puts them in a vulnerable position when forced to view this material without prior warning. I ask this organization to consider its mission and perform an inquiry which results in fines and a system put in place to prevent this from occurring next year. Thank you."
A Dudley resident described the performance as “obscene and profane” in a complaint to the F.C.C.:
"The Bad Bunny half time show for the Superbowl on 2/8/26 was obscene and profane. I don't appreciate that the profane lyrics were trying to be hidden if you don't speak Spanish. The costumes were obscene. The dancing and content were obscene. My children were watching. Shame on the advertisers and the football commission for allowing such a disgusting and obscene display.!"
A second complaint from Dudley stated:
"The half time show was so incredibly inappropriate. Football and sexual activity/propaganda have nothing to do with one another. The Super Bowl is supposed to be FAMILY entertainment and that is not what I saw. Apparently in this world we can't do or talk about anything anymore without sex or sexuality being part of not the main topic of conversation. When will enough be enough. I just wanted to enjoy some football with my family as we cheered on the New England Patriots as long time fans. Not what I got. Also for your records I am a 29 year old female, we are not all older men that are upset."
The complaints were recently published by the F.C.C. in 5 separate documents. You can read all the complaints here, here , here, here, and here.
