West Boylston police arrested a suspected car thief who is alleged to have crashed a stolen car early Wednesday morning, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.

The ordeal started when a Kia stolen Tuesday morning in Providence crashed into a pole on Thomas Street in West Boylston.

The car was not occupied, but West Boylston police, with assistance from the Mass. State Police K-9 Unit and police from Holding, Sterling and Boylston, found the suspect in Sterling and arrested him.

Domingo F. Ortega, age 35, of Providence, was charged with using a motor vehicle without authority, negligent operation, leaving the scene of a property accident, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
